YEAR ONE (2008 - 09) GETTING STARTED
YEAR TWO (2009 - 10) FORMING IDEAS
YEAR THREE (2010 - 11) ESTABLISHMENT
In the Fall of 2008, GCA principal Debra Cahl approached a
few parents to begin the discussion about starting a Parent
Teacher Fellowship at the school. Robert Lee was a parent
of a GCA student that expressed interest in being involved
with fundraising and event planning. In response to his
Representative. Other active contributors included, but was
not limited to; Yanitza Hernandez and Toks Adeniji.
As PTF president, Robert's main focus was on getting things
started. The first planning meeting was in November of 2008
at the Starbucks in New Tampa. This school year was
primarily spent getting parents introduced to the idea of
participating in the PTF and helping to build the organization.
In the Fall of 2009, GCA principal Debra Cahl asked Travis
E. Hills, Sr. if he would serve as GCA PTF president for this
school year. Travis was a parent of two GCA students that
served as PTF Vice-President the previous year. In addition,
Principal Cahl also appointed Yvonne Flores as Secretary /
Treasurer and Maritsa Maldonado as the Teacher
Representative. Other active contributors included, but was
not limited to; Kimo & Gisselle Gray, Lourdes Rodriquez, and
Pastor Tim Hass.

As PTF president, Travis's main focus was on strategic
planning and setting goals. There was a planning meeting in
January of 2010 in the school cafeteria. This school year
was primarily spent planning and exploring opportunities
toward the goals that had been identified.
In the Fall of 2010, GCA principal Debra Cahl asked Travis E. Hills, Sr. if he would serve
again as GCA PTF president for this school year. Travis graciously accepted. After our
annual PTF introduction meeting, Karen Sylvester volunteered to become Treasurer,
Jacqueline Hills volunteered to become Secretary and Maritsa Maldonado was appointed
as the Teacher Representative by principal Cahl.

As PTF president, Travis's main focus for this year is on strategic planning and
establishment of the PTF as a functioning organization. Specific action items include, but
are not limited to;
  • Creation of a GCA PTF website
  • Creation of Organizational By-Laws
  • Identifying roles and responsibilities
  • Identifying Parent Resources
  • Identifying school Projects and Initiatives
  • Establishing steering committees

Travis believes that this third year is God's year of establishment for the GCA PTF. This
school year will primarily be spent establishing standard practices and continued strategic
planning toward the goals that have  been identified among others.
